Closing your account

It is always sad to see clients move off to a new host. However, we understand there are a range of reasons why this happens.  When it does we want to help your transition go as smoothly as possible.

To aid in this we have compiled a list of things to consider before closing your account.

Leavers Check list.

1) Do you have a full archive of your site.  Even if you think you will not need this again it is always worth holding  a copy just in case.  We are more than happy to take a final dump of your database and compress everything into one easy-to-download file.  Please do keep in mind your GPDR obligations when holding this data.
2) Have you checked and double checked that your new host is a certified PCI Service Provider? If they are not then you are not PCI compliant.  Ask to see their AOC (attestation of compliance) which should be counter signed by their QSA (Qualified Security Assessor) ie NOT a self certified AOC. This is very important. Many smaller hosts  / agencies think they can skip this which could lead to large fines against your company  (not them) in the event of a breach.  We have welcomed back a few customers who found the hard way that their new host was not compliant.  The same applies if you are hosting 'in house'.
3) Plan your DNS switch carefully.  It can take some time for DNS to propagate so ensure that your 'old' site is in maintenance mode to prevent new orders coming into the wrong database.  Select a window that is not busy for your business.
4) Please ensure you give notice to us in plenty of time. Most of our packages are 30 days notice so this should be easy. Leave it to late and you will be paying for 1 month of service you do not need. Email billing@dx3webs.com in plenty of time.
5) Do you need to host an archive of your 'old' site for a short time? Our development hosting package is ideal for this. We will move your site and attach to a temp URL and place behind a password so you can access old orders and process the orders for the last few days.  While only paying a small amount.
